About Our Foundation

Our Vision

The Delmarva Youth and Family Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission of coordinating material resources and administrative support to bolster grassroots initiatives that assist local groups in taking charge of the development of their communities.  Many local groups are inspired to action to address long-standing patterns of injustice around them.  These initiatives often start small, then gradually grow with complexity as they persevere and experience more success.  Greater growth demands greater material and resource needs, along with greater systems and processes of administration.  The Delmarva Youth and Family Institute offers these groups a partner to help meet these new needs and implement higher levels of infrastructure so that they can continue to advance their valuable work and not be distracted by important but peripheral elements.  In short, we focus on sustaining their growth, so they can focus on empowering their community.

For your convenience we have put together some of the most commonly asked questions below about how our program works. Of course, if you have a question not covered here, please feel free to call us at 302-401-1087.

Q: Why donate to Delmarva Youth and Family Institute (DYFI)?

A:  DYFI champions the empowerment of local communities.  Our primary beneficiary is the Delmarva Youth Movement, a local organization expanding out of Eastern Shore, MD that mobilizes growing groups of youth across the peninsula to become Service Leaders.  Groups like the Delmarva Youth Movement depend upon material and administrative support from local and regional agencies to sustain and expand their services.  For more information, visit www.delmarvayouth.org.

Q: Where do my dollars go?

A:  Currently, all donations go to the Delmarva Youth Movement to cover expenses related to supplies, food, administration, technology, staffing, space, furnishing, transportation, field trips, and enrichment opportunities.

Q: Is my donation tax-deductible?

A:  Yes, DYFI is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization able to receive tax-deductible contributions year-round. Our EIN/Tax ID number is 92-1623855.

Q: Once I’ve made an online gift, how can I make changes to my account (i.e. change amount, change my credit card number)?

A: It’s so easy! Please just email us at brett@delmarvainstitute.org or call us at 302-401-1087.  If we receive your change prior to the month’s processing deadline, we can make the change effective for that month. If not, it’ll take effect the next month.

A: All monthly donors receive an annual statement reflecting the prior year’s total contributions.

Q: When will my credit card first be charged?

A: Monthly charges occur once per month. Your first online gift will be charged to your card on the date that your transaction is made. All subsequent charges will occur around the 20th of each month.
